My student ward got a new bishopric 2 weeks ago and what a change! It's different than a family ward, when you know who the person is and afterwards will see them again. In this setting, they call men who are strangers and then afterwards we'll not likely see them again. Sad huh! Well, our new Bishop seems really nice and his counselors and very eager to start learning our names and getting to work. My roommate, Janey, put together a petition to extend our previous bishopric's time. After getting it signed, she submitted it to the Stake President. He mentioned it and said he was touched and would give copies to each of the bishopric. We were sad to have them go and tears were shed by many. I have to tell you this funny thing that my previous bishop would do. On the 5th Sundays, he would usually speak about chastity or it would come up or something. Anyway, he would draw this line on the board, going horizontal ways, and then a short line in the middle going vertical. He would then say, "Are there any questions?".
Well, on the Sunday they were released he got up to share his testimony and pulled out a paper and taped it to the podium. It had this same "diagram" - this time with a smiling face on one side and a frowning face on the other. He then said, "Are there any questions?" That made us all laugh. We're going to miss those guys!
