Baby Sign

I am getting more involved at the library and have had some fun experiences. A few weeks ago I was asked to attend a class about Baby Sign Language. It was so cute! We just learned some basic signs that babies can learn: like Mom, Dad, "more", "all done", milk, etc etc. It was so cute! A few moms were in attendance and had their little ones just playing on the floor, and after we were doing signs they were moving their hands and fingers around. One little girl started to attempt to do the sign and we were all enthralled. There is just something about little fingers doing sign language! I went online and found a few movies of babies doing the signs and it was soo cute!

I want to try to teach some to Emilia, but we'll see. At the library, my boss wants to start doing a few signs for the baby storytime, Book Baby. I'm excited because I get to help with the storytimes this summer while my Homework Help takes a hiatus. I'm eager to get more involved and get my feet wet with different programs and services. We are getting ready for the Summer Reading program and I've volunteered to help out where I can. Hopefully I can do it!

Birthday Countdown

So, I'm counting down to my 29th birthday which is in a few weeks (on Feb. 4th) - and I'm going to have a big party. I'm planning it and I hope that it will be fun! I am inviting all my local friends, from high school, college, the mission, Taiwan, work, etc. I hope I'll get some sort of turn out. At least it will be fun if only the family is there. I want it to be an open house and just play games and eat ice cream sundaes. I hope to play Apples to Apples and Balderdash - those are good for coming and going games. I'm going to start working on invitations this weekend. I'm getting excited. I can feel the "getting older birthday blues" coming on me, but I hope that planning this party will help prevent getting depressed! Wish me luck!

Emily and Alex

Last weekend was my cousin's, Emily and Alex, sealing, at the Jordan River Temple. It was so wonderful. This is my first family sealing and it was so touching seeing little Sadie come in dressed in white and when Valerie was holding her at the alter I couldn't help but shed a few tears of joy. I'm so happy for them! Eternity is always the best choice.

Too bad I don't have any picture - I had to slip out as soon as it was over to get to work on time...

New Years with the Apes

New Years Eve:
I did have to work on Monday, but I was off at 6pm. What else are you gonna do during the day? (hehe) It was actually pretty busy. Oh, I got an email about the Assistant Manager job - I didn't get it. The email from the Assistant Director said, "You're allowed to be discouraged, but not disheartened, I'd be happy to interview again in the future". I was a little upset, but kind of glad overall. I need the money and extended hours - but I hate to leave my new favorite job! I'm so torn! I really hope that something will open up in my department that will give me the full-time! Argg!
Ok, so back to New Years. I went right over to Mom and Dad's after work and as soon as I got there we left for the Juett's house. You're going to laugh when you hear when we ended up doing until midnight - we watched 3 of the Planet of the Apes movies! (hehe) They were on t.v. and Dave started watching and we all joined and kept watching - getting into the stories. I guess all the adults went to see them when they initially came out and it pretty popular or something. I wouldn't admit it public, but I actually enjoyed the cheesy stories! I've actually put the last 2 movies on hold at the library - I have to see how it all ends! (hehe) At midnight we watched the Dick Clark special and he is soo old! Poor guy, he didn't look so good and his talking was slurred. I guess he had a stroke. Hopefully this is his last year hosting the New Year show! (Not that I want him to die, but he needs to retire!) Happy New Year!
New Year's Day:
We met up with the Duke's for the annual bowling tournament. It was fun - even though I didn't get my requested bumpers. Mom did really good and beat Dad and Steve both games. She was on fire! Too bad Steve was mopping about it! Rob and Stephanie were on my team, with David and Sheila, and it was fun talking to them and seeing little Kameryn. After bowling, Sheila invited me and Andrew to eat at Iceberg with them. Yum! I got a root beer shake - my favorite!
